World Series Sprintcars has been a regular event on the Premier Speedway calendar since its inception in 1987, with the Warrnambool based venue having been an integral part of the series, playing a key role in the prestigious Speedweek leg of the National Tour since its introduction.

The now traditional New Year’s Day visit by the travelling Stars of Sprintcar Racing is one of the must-see events at Premier Speedway each-and-every season, while again for the 2019-2020 Tournament December 29, 2019 will see Premier Speedway host the first of its two scheduled rounds of the series.

Last season (2019-20) James McFadden made Premier Speedway his own as he took home $10,000 for his win on December 29, when he led home Kerry Madsen and American Cory Eliason, before doubling up on New Years Day to win from Grant Anderson and Cory Eliason. McFadden, driving for West Australian based team Monte Motorsport was the overall 2019-20 World Series Sprintcars Champion while the 2020-21 Championship was postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
