World Series Sprintcars has been a regular event on the Premier Speedway calendar since its inception in 1987, with the Warrnambool based venue having been an integral part of the series, playing a key role in the prestigious Speedweek leg of the National Tour since its introduction.

The now traditional New Years Day visit by the travelling Stars of Sprintcar Racing is one of the must-see events at Premier Speedway each-and-every season, while again for the 2019-2020 Tournament December 29, 2019 will see Premier Speedway host the first of its two scheduled rounds of the series.

Last season (2018-19) Grant Anderson took home $10,000 for his win on December 29, when he led home David Murcott and Corey McCullagh, before James McFadden stormed from 9th on the grid to win the New Years Day event from American Cory Eliason and Steven Lines.

Mt. Gambiers Steven Lines, driving for Queensland based Horrell Motorsport was the overall 2018-19 World Series Sprintcars Champion.
