Two-Time Champ Lines, Scelzi and Wormall Return

Two of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classicís Top Ten from 2017 have entered for the South West Conveyancing supported 2018 version of the event at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool.

Having previously stood on top of the podium in both 2011 with Monte Motorsport and 2013 with Hallís Motorsport, Mt. Gambierís Steven Lines managed a strong ninth place finish last January behind eventual Classic Champion James McFadden.

The Classicís fifth place finisher from 2017 Dominic Scelzi is also set to return as a part of the impressive Wormall Motorsport outfit with teammate Mitch Wormall.

Lines is always fast at Warrnambool, however in 2018 a slightly new combination will be in play with the Hallís Motorsport team enlisting the assistance of renowned crew chief Dave Sharman to weave his magic on the distinctive Morrison powered Cool Chassis.

As always Lines will have all the go-fast-bits to launch an attack on what promises to be a huge field come January 19 to 21 for the Classic for the supporters of Hallís Motorsport including Albany 4WD and Camping Centre, Grow Systems Australia, Clarend Transport and East Coast Logistics.

Mitch Wormall who was another of the young guns to impress at the 2017 Classic, where he managed to qualify for the B-Main, will again look to soak up as much instruction and information as he can from his imported teammate.

Having also gathered more experience and knowledge betaking in an extended program of racing in the United States as well during this past off-season, which should see him continue to improve as the season progresses.

When Dominic Scelzi arrived on Australian shores for Wormall Motorsport from Fresno in California, last summer, few would have expected him to have the impact he did, given that he was to be joined at Wormall Motorsport by a second American in Brian Brown.

Scelzi however put together some impressive results including a stout 5th place finish in the 2017 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.

In 2018 he gets a chance to improve again on that result as the 2017 Rookie of the Knoxville Nationals, will again combine as a formidable team with Wormall Motorsport and teammate Mitch Wormall for not only an assault on the 2018 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic but also a full World Series Sprintcars Tour!

Scelzi who began racing as a six-year old and cut his teeth in the Junior Micro Sprint division before progressing to Restricted Micro Sprints, during which time he secured 18 feature race wins and a maiden Track Championship at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia, California.

Throughout 2017 Scelzi, embarked on a 70-race schedule that included regular competition with the World of Outlaws, earning a career first World of Outlaws podium finish (3rd) during the famed Gold Cup event in his native California.

Scelzi also recorded race wins at Calistoga Speedway where he won the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the California Dirt Classic and then at Dubuque Fairgrounds in Dubuque, Iowa where he raced wheel-to-wheel with Terry McCarl en-route to victory. Scelzi was to round out his season in fine style by winning the Tribute to Gary Patterson Race at the Dirt Track at Stockton, California which is an event that carries much prestige and history.

If Scelzi can maintain this positive momentum through the early rounds of World Series Sprintcars and bring it all to the table for the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic then there is no reason why the Wormall Civil, Fuel Distributors WA, Valvoline, Clark Equipment, Mayday Earthmoving, Merger Contracting, Brooks Hire, CTS Transport and OTR Tyres, KRE Powered Maxim canít be a contender again in 2018.

The 2018 46th edition of the South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be supported by the following sponsors; Performance Racegear, KRE Race Engines, The Lady Bay Resort and KFC.
