Milburn & Van Ginneken Set To Vie For Eureka Series Honours
The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series is set for a thrilling conclusion this coming Saturday night when defending series Champion Brett Milburn lays it all on the line in what has become an intriguing points battle with Allansford’s Tim Van Ginneken.
Heading into last Saturday night’s penultimate round of competition at Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway, Milburn held sway over the chasing pack, leading by 110 points from Van Ginneken, with Warrnambool’s Corey McCullagh a further 208 points in arrears of Van Ginneken.
However, a topsy-turvy night of racing saw Tasmania’s Tim Hutchins collect his first Eureka Series A-Main victory, with the points leader, Milburn, and Van Ginneken both needing to transfer from the B-Main to even make the show!
Thankfully both could make the back of the feature race event with Van Ginneken progressing to and eventual sixth place finish, while Milburn gave up some of his points lead with a tenth-place run.
McCullagh was able to finish fifth behind Hutchins, Dennis Jones, Brayden Parr and David McKay to ensure that he remains a mathematical chance of claiming the Eureka Sprintcar Series.
The highest points scorer of the night was Young Gun Brayden Parr who was able to leap frog Glen Sutherland into fourth place in points courtesy of his third-place run, while Mt. Gambier’s Sutherland finished the A-Main in eighth.
So with a field of 30 plus cars already entered for this weekend and the likes of newly crowned Australian 360 Sprintcar Champion and defending Parr Motorsports Track Champion Jamie Veal in the field along with Darren Mollenoyux , Grant Anderson, David Murcott, Tim Rankin and John Vogels the battle for Grand Final honours is set to go down to the wire!
With public gates set to open at 4.00pm and cars on track at 5.00pm as well as an amazing support cast from the Wingless Sprints as more than 40 drivers and teams battle it out for a round of their Super Series, this is going to be a great night of Speedway action.
Tickets are available at the gate or on-line via www.premierspeedway.com.au.
