Bishop Fastest In Practice For Speedcar Title

Victoria’s Harley Bishop announced himself in no uncertain terms when he recorded the fastest lap time in practice for the 74th Lucas Oil Australian Speedcar Championship at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool tonight.

Bishop posted an impressive 12.714 second pass around the quarter mile venue to just pip hard charging American Jerry Coons Jnr who wheeled the Steven Graham owned N14 machine around Sungold Stadium in 12.762 seconds.

Other to put down impressive laps on a night that saw some 27 six to eight lap hot lap sessions on a perfect surface were Matt Smith (N13) with a 12.877 second lap, Jamie McKinlay (N42) 12.908 seconds, Kaiden Manders (W11) 12.933 seconds while the Q98 of Matt Greenwood also broke into the 12 second range with a pass of 12.973.

From there the remainder of the field was locked in the 13 second range for the entire evening.

The games of cat and mouse may have already begun as well, with American Davey Ray amongst those that chose not to run with a transponder thus meaning a recorded time was unavailable to be used as a comparison by rival teams.
