3yb And Coast Fm To Kick Start 2012-13 As Premier Announces Calendar

OTHER NEWS

While most Speedway activity at this time of year is confined to the annual upgrade of equipment and the relevant maintenance issues that are associated with a long season of racing, the planning for the upcoming 2012-13 season at Sungold Stadium is well and truly underway!

With a major part of that planning being the setting of the racing calendar, the sourcing of corporate partners is also a high priority. It is with this in mind that the Management of Premier Speedway are extremely pleased to announce 3YB and Coast FM as the major supporters of the opening night of the 2012-13 season on November 24, 2012.

The night will consist of the opening round of the Sprintcar Track Championship which coincides with a round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series as well as the Neville Pike Cup for Junior Sedans.

“To have Peter Headen and the entire team at 3YB and Coast FM back on board for next season is a great thing”, Premier Speedway General Manager David Mills said.

“3YB and Coast FM have been long time supporters of Premier Speedway and in recent times have been one of our media partners to boot. Their support is highly valued and I think it is fitting that we kick off our Sprintcar program with these guys on hand for all of the action”, Mills added.

Aside from the opening night of Sprintcar action on Saturday November 24, Premier Speedway has yet another exciting schedule in place.

The opening Day Show of the season will be held on Sunday November 11, 2012 and will feature Wingless Sprints, Junior Sedans, Formula 500’s, Street Stocks, Open ASCF Sedans, Vintage Modifieds and Heavy Hot Rods.

Following the November 24, 2012 meeting a second Day Show will be held on Sunday December 9, 2012 featuring the same classes as those listed for the opening meeting.

On December 22 the Sprintcars will return for the annual Twin Feature night in what promises to be a night of high excitement in the lead up to Christmas! Also joining the festivities will be the Formula 500’s as they battle it out for the prestigious Jack Willsher Cup.

Both classes will then return on Tuesday January 1, 2013 for World Series Sprintcars and the Formula 500’s in their annual Christmas / New Year Series.

The Grand Final of the Formula 500 Series will then be held at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool on Sunday January 6 in what will be a huge night of Open Wheel Mayhem!

The 500’s will not be the only class on show, as the Wingless Sprints and Speedcars both contest round of their domestic Victorian series!

From there it will be all eyes on January 26 and 27, 2013 as the Nations Speedway spotlight turns to Warrnambool for the running of the 41st Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic as supported by the Lady Bay Resort, Oval Express Magazine and Simonds Homes.

The two night extravaganza will again feature the popular Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday morning at 10.00am til 12 noon while the Classic Brunch will be held on Sunday from 9.30am.

Both events will be conducted at the Flying Horse Bar and Brewery, adjacent to McDonald’s East.

Following the Classic it will be the turn of the Wingless Sprints to shine.

The AWSR Australian Championship will be conducted over three nights on Friday February 22, Saturday February 23 and Sunday February 24, 2013 with more than 100 cars expected to vie for the coveted A1.

With a unique format and with support from the Super Rods and V8 Dirt Modifieds (tbc) it should be a fantastic event to showcase the best of the best in the Wingless Sprint division.

The SRA Sprintcars will then return for their Series Grand Final on Saturday March 16 along with the AMCA Nationals as they battle it out in a round of their Action Series.

The Easter Sprintcar Trail, the Super Rod Cup and a huge fireworks display will then wrap up the season from a night racing perspective on Sunday March 31, 2013 before a third and final Day Show is scheduled for Sunday April 14, 2013.

Those classes as listed in the opening two Day Show’s will again be in action at the final meeting of the season.

End Release.
