Local star and current Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar champion Darren Mollenoyux is the latest nomination for this Saturday night’s All Stars Tyson Perez Memorial Sprintcar event at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium. This weekend’s event has also attracted USA star Travis Rilat who will make a special one off appearance this Saturday night in a fitting tribute to his close friend who tragically lost his life in 2010.

Rilat’s entry is the icing on the cake for this emotion charged event considering Perez crewed for the American ace both here in Australia and in the US before the pair were involved in a tragic accident two years ago. Following the accident Rilat was hospitalised for months and underwent numerous surgeries while the Texan returned to Sprintcar racing last season and will be a sentimental favourite for this weekend’s $3,000 to win event.

Mollenoyux enjoyed a consistent season to secure the Eureka Sprintcar Series win that was recently capped with a strong runner up finish to Steven Lines at Avalon in the opening round of the Easter Sprintcar Trail.

Popular Simpson ace John Vogels will also take to the high banks while Tony Moule, Phil Lock, Harley Bishop, Darren Hickman, Michael Cunningham and local Tim Van Ginneken are other notables amongst the strong field.

Interstate stars such as Adelaide’s Matt Egel will make the journey to Warrnambool as will West Australian based former local Chris Ackland while Craig Vanderstelt is another hard charging South Australian entered.

Presented by Heytesbury Stockfeeds, the event will also feature the V8 Dirt Modified’s plus a bumper field of Street Stocks including the current Australian champion Brad McClure.

The Street Stock’s will contest Twin Features considering the first 15 laps will be run in one direction before the final 15 laps will be completed in the opposite direction .

R&M Security have also weighed into the evening throwing a cool $500 to the winner of a random heat race throughout the night. All heat race winners across the three classes go into the draw for the cash to be drawn at the end of the night.

It’s the last time the light’s will come on for the current season at Sungold Stadium and the Tyson Perez Memorial is a fitting tribute to a well-known and respected member of the speedway community who tragically lost his life way too soon.

Public gates will open at 3pm with racing from 4:30pm this Saturday at Sungold Stadium.

Admission;
Adults $20.00
Concession $20.00
Children 12-15 $10.00
Children 6-11 $5.00
