Parr Motorsports Gf1 Chassis Track Championship Goes To Lines

The 2011-12 Premier Speedway, Parr Motorsports GF1 Chassis Sprintcar Track Championship certainly went down to the wire as the final round was contested on Sunday night as a part of the third and final night of the Easter Sprintcar Trail.

With Steven Lines entering the event with only a 20 point buffer over his nearest rival James McFadden in the chase for the awesome GF1 Chassis and Panel kit courtesy of Parr Motorsports, the end result was sure to go down to the wire.

With all of the leading contenders including Lines, McFadden, Jamie Veal and Darren Mollenoyux all qualifying directly into the Sunday night A-Main event, it was going to be an intense battle for supremacy!

At the beginning of the A-main it appeared as if Lines may have over-cooked it as he made solid contact with the back straightaway fence in an attempt to move forward and run down early race leader Trevor Green.

Fortunately for Lines he was able to stay under power and motored his way back up to fourth in the running order, a position he held at the fall of the checkered flag.

His fourth place was enough to secure the track championship for 2011-12, given Lines back to back wins following his success in 2010-11.

Jamie Veal followed Green across the line to claim not only second place in the Easter Trail A-Main event on Sunday but he also leapfrogged James McFadden and Darren Mollenoyux in the process to claim second place in the GF1 Chassis Parr Motorsports Track Championship.

For the record, if Lines had of suffered enough damage to have been forced in-field when he hit the wall, he would have gifted the 2011-12 Track Championship to Veal as only 55 points separated the pair at the end of the night.

McFadden hung on for third in the track championship after finishing 8th on Sunday night to back up his Avalon Track Championship win along with his World Series Sprintcars Crown.

Mollenoyux was fourth while young South Australian Daniel Pestka was fifth after scoring points in four of the five completed A-Main events.

A total of 52 drivers secured points by contesting at least one A-Main at Sungold Stadium throughout the 2011-12 season.

“The Parr Motorsports GF1 Chassis Track Championship has once again been a hotly contested event right throughout the season and I know it has now become an extra incentive for a number of teams to come and run with us here at Premier Speedway”, General Manager David Mills said.

“The really exciting part of this track championship deal is the influx of high profile teams during January and the local guys taking them on in the quest for points, it is a really good mix”, Mills added.

Lines managed to score points in four of the five A-Main as completed during the season, only missing the Classic final in the process. Veal likewise was consistent scoring in three rounds of the track championship with a win, a second and a fourth placing.

“We have been extremely fortunate to have had Parr Motorsports and GF1 Chassis on board for the track championship, I really can’t thank Adrian and Kim Parr enough, they are two great people who really have the best interest of the sport at heart”, Mills added.

“I know that Linesy and his Crew were pretty keen to get their hands on that chassis after the meeting” Mills concluded.

The top 10 in the points table looks like this:

Steven Lines (535)
Jamie Veal (480)
James McFadden (440)
Darren Mollenoyux (425)
Daniel Pestka (345)
Brett Milburn (245)
Trevor Green (230)
Brooke Tatnell (220)
Garry Brazier (195)
Ian Loudoun & John Vogels (175)

The final night of racing (non-track championship event) will be held on Saturday April 21, 2012 when the venue will play host to the Tyson Perez Memorial race for 360 Sprintcars with Street Stocks in support.

End Release.
